Daily Operating Controls, Review and Implementation
A dealership is a complex collection of profit and cost centres which are required to work simultaneously towards a common profit goal. Despite this many dealerships do not focus sufficiently on the individual departments within the business, especially whilst the business is profitable, and so when losses are incurred it is not obvious which departments require additional attention. It is essential therefore that the monthly performance targets are broken down into daily targets for all operating departments.
At Trevor Jones our motor trade specialists can assist the Dealer Principal in breaking down the monthly budget into daily achievement targets for all departments. We have also had considerable experience in implementing Daily Operating Controls enabling the management to be sure they are “keeping their finger on the pulse” of the dealership. To ensure the operating control sheets are being completed and to review progress the key control sheet is usually faxed to our office daily for the first month. The dealership is then visited after 3 months to review progress and controls are refined to ensure they are sustained in the future.
Historically we have found that dealers do not have this information immediately available either because there has been a lack of focus or the accounting systems cannot provide the detail required. As a result of our review we would be able to help you extract this information and use it to improve the profitability of your dealership. |
